Australian Catholic Cursillo

The Cursillo Movement offers separate three-day weekends for men and women. The program presents a way of living as a Christian in the world, deepening a personal relationship with God, and evangelising to others. After the weekend participants are invited to continue involvement through Cursillo small groups.

Catholic Charismatic Prayer Groups

These groups are characterised by expressive, joyful praise, an openness to the spiritual gifts including prophecy and healing, and an expectancy that God will speak and work in power within the meeting. Music is an important element, helping to lift the hearts of those present. There are also talks, testimonies and prayer, and prayer ministry is always available. There are groups throughout the diocese.

The primary aim of the Parents and Friends Forum is to assist in the development of meaningful and authentic partnerships between parents, school communities and parishes, and identify common goals based on shared values.

Disciples of Jesus Covenant Community

An international community of people united in mutual commitment to each other and the Catholic way of life. Our membership comprises of families, single men and women, as well as priests and religious. We aim to renew and serve the Church by bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ to others, by fostering a missionary outlook in its members and encouraging participation in local works of evangelisation, service and mercy.

Family Group Movement

Family Groups build Christian community through the development of extended families.
  • It is a great way to get to know other members of the parish and to support one another.
  • Each group may include married, divorced, singles, widowed, children, grandparents, Catholic, non-Catholic, lay and religious.
  • Existing groups are in West Wollongong, Nowra, Kiama, Culburra Beach and Bulli.

A beautiful range of hand crafted Australian cards is available from a designer in our own diocese. Cards include Baptism, Communion, Confirmation and in Sympathy and ar made with special paper and felt designs.

Good News Community Macarthur

Prayer and leisure program for adults with a disability. First Saturday of the month (usually) at St John the Evangelist Parish Hall, Cordeaux Street, Campbelltown.

Good Samaritan Associates

Campbelltown branch meets fortnightly on Fridays, studies the rule of St Benedict, the Psalms and the Scriptures and prays for the needs of the parish.

iStand nights

iSTAND Nights is a Catholic youth group that meets on Friday nights at St Columbkille's parish in Corrimal. A great place to meet other young people, relax, play games and have fun, but also to learn about God and what it means to be a Christian. You also get to meet the Youth Mission Team.

Josephite Associates

As Josephite Associates we respond to the call to living the charism of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop in our daily lives in our own unique way. This call focuses on friendship, prayer and service. In the Wollongong Diocese, some Associates meet Monthly and some a little less frequently, depending where the meeting is held.

Knights of the Southern Cross

The Knights of the Southern Cross (KSC) is an Order of Catholic men committed to promoting the Christian way of life throughout Australia. Branches currently operate in many Catholic parishes and membership is open to all Catholic men over the age of 18. Goals include: fostering the Christian way of life throughout Australia, promoting the welfare of its members and their families, encouraging social and intellectual activities amongst its members and conducting and supporting educational, charitable, religious, and social welfare work.

Lay Carmelites

Lay Carmelites are men and women from all walks of life who are called to live 'in the midst of the people' according to the spirit of the contemplative Order of Carmelites.

Legion of Mary

  • The Legion sees as its priority the spiritual and social welfare of each person.
  • Members visit families and the sick, both in homes and hospitals and through supporting parish life through many other activities.

Macarthur Catholic Social Justice Network

The Macarthur Social Justice Network exists to promote social justice and peace, ecological concern and respect for life in society, in the light of the Gospel and the social teaching of the Church.

McCabe Retirement Village, Towradgi

  • Bishop McCabe Village is an independent living community of 24 units, located in Wollongong's northern suburb of Towradgi.
  • It is part of the St Mary's Retirement Village located at Berkeley in Wollongong's southern suburbs.

Ministry to Solo Parents and their Families

This ministry offers care and support to those who are widowed, separated, divorced, single parents and the children of these families.

Mount Carmel Retreat Centre

  • Many men and women have found healing, hope and renewal in an experience of the living God at Mount Carmel.
  • Newly renovated and expanded in 2012, all rooms now feature ensuites and many have double beds. More rooms are now available with direct, level access to the prayer room, dining room and chapel.

Neocatechumenal Way

The Neocatechumenal Way is not a movement or an association, but an instrument in the parishes at the service of the bishop to return to faith many of those who abandoned it.

Network of Adult Faith Formation

  • This network consists of appointed parish faith formation representatives, those interested in faith formation, and representatives of other faith groups.
  • The network meets four times a year, exchanging faith initiatives and supporting upcoming initiatives for the diocese.

Oblate Youth

  • Oblate Youth Australia is a national community of young people who identify with the Oblates of Mary Immaculate.
  • We come together in a spirit of fun and friendship to help build community by sharing our Catholic faith and our life experiences.

PALMS Australia

  • An international volunteer sending agency to reduce poverty through its skill exchange program.
  • Palms Australia started in Sydney in 1956 as the Paulian Association.

Project Rachel

  • A confidential healing ministry for the many people, both men and women, who have been touched by an abortion experience.
  • The purpose of Project Rachel is post-abortion reconciliation and healing for the other victims of abortion.

Religious Education Resource Centre

  • For catechists, teachers, students, and all interested in faith, the centre offers a wide range of great books, videos (including CaFE), periodicals, music and much, much more.
  • Resources are available for loan.

Retrouvaille

Retrouvaille is a worldwide organisation to help couples who are experiencing any sort of difficulties in their marriage relationship. The word Retrouvaille simply means 'rediscovery'.

Ruah Young Adults Group

RUAH is a Catholic Charismatic young adults group held fortnightly at the Xavier Conference Centre (38 Harbour St, Wollongong). Secular Franciscan Order

The rule and life of the Secular Franciscan Order is to observe the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ by following the example of St Francis of Assisi, who made Christ the inspiration and the centre of his life with God and people.

Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites

  • The Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites are called to be witnesses to the world of the transcendent value of the Gospel and especially of prayer as it was taught by Jesus in the spirit of the Beatitudes.

Shrine of Our Lady of Mercy, Penrose Park

  • Penrose Park with its various devotional areas in a setting of natural beauty, serves as a spiritual oasis open to everyone who wants to meet with Our Lord Jesus Christ and his Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary.
  • The Shrine is served by the Pauline Fathers and is open daily for everyone.

Spirituality in the Pub

  • Offers a forum for conversation within the Church for people interested in religion and spirituality.
  • It provides an opportunity to hear and express a variety of opinions about topics of concern.

St Mary's Retirement Village, Berkeley

  • St Mary's Retirement Village comprises 34 independent living units and a 33-place low care residential aged care community (hostel) located in Wollongong's southern suburb of Berkeley.
  • It is run by Catholic Healthcare Services.

St Mary's Towers

  • St Mary's Towers is gifted with an atmosphere conducive to prayer and reflection.
  • We cultivate a place of profound contemplative silence in an hospitable environment which binds and communicates.

St Vincent de Paul Society

  • The mission of the Society is to deepen the Catholic faith of its members to go out into our nation to heighten the awareness of Jesus Christ. We do this by sharing ourselves - who we are and what we have - with the poor on a person to person basis.
  • The Society of St Vincent de Paul in Wollongong Diocese operates 24 centres of charity, 40 conferences based in parishes a number of school groups and a number of specialist welfare services. 

St Vincent de Paul Society Youth

Groups of young people across the diocese living the Society's mission through helping the disadvantaged, visiting prisoners and the elderly, helping with emergency visitation and deepening their spirituality and friendships.
